  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for the shell)
  • 4 oz unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Fresh berries for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the custard by whisking egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch in a pan. Gradually add hot milk while whisking continuously until smooth. Heat over medium until thickened, then refrigerate.
  2. For the tartlet shells, beat an egg with sugar, mix in softened butter, vanilla, and flour to form dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough and cut into circles to fit molds. Bake for about 14-15 minutes until golden.
