Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound uncooked shrimp (peeled, deveined)
  • 12 ounces bowtie pasta
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 bell peppers (1 green, 1 red)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta in boiling salted water until al dente; reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Prepare the Cajun seasoning by mixing paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Toss shrimp with olive oil and half of the seasoning blend.
  3. In a skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and cook the shrimp for 1-2 minutes per side until curled and pink. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add remaining butter along with diced bell peppers and onions; sauté until softened. Stir in minced garlic for an additional minute.
  5. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle boil before adding back the cooked shrimp and pasta; mix thoroughly using reserved pasta water to adjust consistency as needed.
