  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp water (for filling)
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (for ganache)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • Fresh strawberries (for garnish)
  • Chocolate shavings or curls (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients; mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour evenly into prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
