Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 eggs (1 egg + 1 egg yolk)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 to 3 cups dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a stand mixer, combine cooled browned butter with brown sugar, white sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and both eggs. Beat until smooth.
  4. Gradually add all-purpose flour, mixing slowly to avoid overflow. Mix in baking soda and salt until well combined. Fold in dark chocolate chips.
  5. Spoon large balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet and chill for at least one hour (or freeze if desired).
  6. Bake for about 12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain gooey. Cool on racks before serving.
