  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for oat topping)
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Gradually add the flour, mixing until combined.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9 inch baking dish to form the crust.
  4. In another bowl, combine sliced apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat and spread over the crust.
  5. For the oat topping, mix flour and brown sugar with melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the apple layer.
  6. Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
