  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet instant dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¼ cups cold unsalted butter, cut into slices
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 bars sweetened chocolate bar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, water, milk, sugar, salt, yeast, and softened butter until mixed. Knead lightly into a ball and refrigerate for one hour.
  2. Prepare the butter layer by flattening the cold butter between parchment paper and forming a square.
  3. Roll out the dough and enclose the butter layer completely. Chill again on a baking sheet covered with plastic wrap for an hour.
  4. Roll out to create long strips and fold as directed to form layers. Repeat chilling after each turn.
  5. Shape into croissants by cutting rectangles and rolling tightly around pieces of chocolate.
  6. Proof in a warm area for one to two hours before baking at 400°F (200°C) for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
