Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 12 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup; mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually combine with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Chill the dough for at least one hour.
  5. Scoop about 1½ tablespoons of dough into balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but centers appear slightly underbaked.
  7. Cool on the baking sheet for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, and a pinch of salt. Start by adding one tablespoon of milk; adjust until you achieve a smooth but spreadable consistency.
  9. Spoon glaze over cooled cookies focusing on the center while letting it spread naturally. Allow it to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
